Publication 29. 11. 2022

Prague is beautiful throughout every season, but it becomes even more enchanting during the holiday season thanks to the many Christmas markets and festive decorations. Here are our favorite Christmas markets that are a must see for your trip in Prague.

Old Town Square Christmas market

It comes as no surprise that the largest Christmas market in Prague is held at the most famous and historical area of Prague, Old Town Square. The Christmas market lasts here from the 26th of November 2022 all the way to the 6th of January 2023!

Apart from all the delicious snacks and delectable hot wine, you can look forward to seeing all the beautiful decorations that will bring out your inner child. Visitors young and old will be delighted by the 25 meter tall Christmas tree while you sip on some coffee or cocoa.  You can also look forward to hearing some traditional Czech Christmas music every day from 16:30 to 21:30.

The Christmas market is not the only thing that you can see at the Old Town Square, though. The most famous attraction in Old Town Square is the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Hall which you can see on our Prague Underground, Astronomical Clock & The Bridge tour. If you find yourself on this tour, be sure to stop by the Christmas market for a truly unique experience.

Christmas market at Náměstí Míru

If you want to have an authentic Prague Christmas, visit the Christmas market at Náměstí Míru. This location has been a local favorite for generations!

Tired of the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas? Looking for a more relaxed atmosphere in a local Czech environment? Pay a visit to this beautiful square in the quarter of Vinohrady. The Christmas market there is open every day from 10:00 to 19:00 from the 20th of November 2022 to the 24th of December 2022.

On top of all the traditional Czech Christmas snacks and drinks like roasted chestnuts and mead, you can find many different vendors selling a wide range of handmade products, stretching from wooden toys for kids to seasonal home décor, and even some jewelry and knitted winterwear just like grandma used to make.

The focal point of Náměstí Míru is the stunning neogothic church of Saint Ludmila, built in the year 1888, which makes the whole square a very unique place to enjoy that will look amazing in your photos. So, if you want to feel like a local for a moment, don’t hesitate to visit this beautiful square and its lovely Christmas market!

Prague Castle Christmas market

Visiting the Prague Castle is a must for every tourist that comes to Prague, but during the holiday season there is more to see than just the awe-inspiring buildings of the largest castle complex in the world. From the 23rd of November 2022 all the way to the 6th of January 2023 you can visit the Christmas in the Square of Saint George at Prague Castle.

There isn’t a better place that can create a magical medieval Christmas atmosphere like the Christmas market at Prague Castle, because of its placement right behind the St. Vitus Cathedral, the most recognizable structure in Prague.

You can see many unique things at this Christmas market such as medieval blacksmiths, coin makers, painting of Christmas decorations, and the making of wool products. We highly recommend visiting here right after our Prague Castle Grounds & Highlights tour!
